HOW MUCH TIME IT WILL TAKE YOU:

Only train tickets to take.

2h of transportation + 3H30 of hike.

HOW TO GET THERE:

You will need to take both a train and a bus to go there.

Important: The trip by public transportation is only available on weekends.

There are two itineraries going there, both are fine:

1. By train: ‘Lausanne’ ⇒ ‘Cossonay-Penthalaz’, then by bus : ‘Cossonay-Penthalaz’ ‘Mollendruz, Col’.
2. By train: ‘Lausanne’ ⇒ ‘Le Day’, then another train: ‘Le Day’ ⇒ ‘Le Pont’, and then a bus: ‘Le Pont’ ⇒ ‘Mollendruz, Col’.

You can find these trips by searching for ‘Mollendruz, Col’ on CFF’s website. There are departures every two hours.

The bus stop ‘Mollendruz, Col’ is the beginning of the hike. From there follow the yellow signs going to ‘Châtel’ as well as the purple signs for itinerary 453.

The hike is 7km long with roughly 400m elevation.

Be careful, the last bus departure to come back to Lausanne is at 18:10, don’t be late.

WHAT IT IS:

Discover the Jura Vaudois with this really nice hike. Stroll between forests, mountains and pastures to reach the ‘Croix de Châtel’ at 1432m. From there, enjoy a stunning view on the surrounding valleys and mountains. While you go through the forest you will come across ‘The Toblerones’. There are triangular stones that served military fortifications during World War 2. And yes, they do take their name from the famous Chocolate!
This is a super nice and chill hike to enjoy the spring sun we’ve been having this last week and discover the countryside!

If you have time, you can take a break and enjoy the sunset on the side of the ‘Lake of Joux’ on your way back.

We hope you’ll enjoy this hike!
