HOW MUCH TIME IT WILL TAKE YOU:

You will need to plan the whole day for this trip as Zürich is quite far from Lausanne.

WHAT IT IS:

Zürich is one of the biggest cities in Switzerland, similar to Lausanne it also has a lake, and two universities ETH (EPFL’s sister) and Zurich university. You can also visit the Lindt museum which is really interesting and offers a lot of chocolate.
To visit the museum you should buy your ticket in advance on their website.

To visit Zürich we suggest this document: Zurich Tour. We use it for organizing our own event, so you would just have to adapt it to a smaller group of course, by choosing your favorite group and option and you’re up to go. We also added a description of each spot!

HOW TO GET THERE:

The train to Zürich is quite expensive, to reduce the price you can book your CFF tickets in advance and choose which exact train you want to take (tickets with a ‘%’ next to the price on the CFF website/app). Another great trick would be to go to your town office and buy a “Carte Journalière''. It is a daily transport pass that allows you to travel through Switzerland for one day by public transport. It is delivered by the city you live in and the price varies between 40-50.- depending on the city. However there is a limited number of tickets sold per day, so it's better to buy them in advance.

To get to the museum:
Train Lausanne-Kilchberg. The museum is not in Zürich itself but in a smaller town a bit further. From the train station you should find some signs indicating the museum’s location.

To get back to Zürich:
After the museum you can go back to the town either by boat, or by train depending on your mood.

Boat: Kilchberg ZH (see) - Zürich Bürkilplatz (See), then Zürich Bürkilplatz - Zürich, ETH/Universitätsspital to start the tour.

Train: Kilchberg - ETH/Universitätsspital

WHAT YOU NEED:

You will need :

  • Good shoes to walk all day.
  • A pic-nic.
  • Your swimming-suit if you’re up for a swim.

HOW MUCH IT WILL COST YOU:

The organization of this event will cost :

  • Train ticket:

We suggest you to buy a “Carte Journalière” from the town you live in. It costs 40-50 CHF and allows you to travel all day in Switzerland by public transports. You can also take the boat with it. For a destination such as Zürich it is cheaper than buying separate train tickets for the day..

  • Lindt Museum:

13 CHF for students.
