Dear hiker friends,
As we all know global warming is coming. Sadly, glaciers are melting fast. Take your chance to go hiking with a view of one of the biggest Glaciers in Switzerland! ESN Lausanne is taking you to Valais to enjoy a hike in Bettmeralp and an amazing view of Aletsch's Glacier. Take your best hiking shoes, a warm coat and join us to discover these amazing landscapes.
✧ The hike: it’s about 13 km, with an elevation of 600 m and takes 4 hours 30 minutes. Be sure to be comfortable with these conditions!
We will hike for a couple of hours and then stop for a picnic lunch with a view on the glacier! Then we will come back to Bettmeralp and warm up around hot chocolate. We will then take the train back to arrive in Lausanne at 10:10 pm.
Don’t forget to bring your lunch bag, some snacks, water and dress up appropriately because it will be really cold up there. You also need good shoes as there might be snow and some elevation (the highest point is 2333 m).
As winter is coming, there is a chance that it is snowing up there (~2000 m). We know that you are tough hikers but if there is too much snow we might have to go hiking somewhere lower in the mountains. If the weather is too bad there is also a possibility that the hike is cancelled or postponed. We will keep you updated on the weather conditions.
